Celebrating 70 Years of China-Norway Relations: NYO3 Leads the Way in Health Innovation at CIIE 2024

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) grandly opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from November 5-10. Nearly 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions gathered to fulfill this ‘Oriental Appointment’.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Norway, and Norway’s first participation in the CIIE’s national exhibition. The Norwegian pavilion showcases excellent Norwegian industries and enterprises’ products and solutions.

Innovation Norway, as the organizing institution, brings 12 Norwegian companies and the Norwegian Seafood Council to the national exhibition, covering various sectors including maritime and energy, health and nutrition, design and lifestyle, food and agriculture, as well as seafood and consumer goods.

They’re presenting rich offerings of seafood, dietary supplements, furniture, and advanced energy solutions. Companies like AkerBioMarine, VOSS, and NYO3 form a ‘luxury national team’ at CIIE, aiming to further promote trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the two countries. Over the past six years, more than 100 Norwegian companies have appeared at CIIE, bringing cutting-edge marine biotechnology and numerous quality choices to Chinese consumers.

Norway, with its thousands of kilometers of coastline and world-famous fjords, has become a global leader in marine industries. Seafood is Norway’s national business card, and with increasing global market integration and upgrading domestic consumer health awareness, Norwegian seafood has steadily grown its market share in China.

CIIE 2024 NYO3 Cooperation

In the first eight months of 2024, Norway’s seafood exports to China reached 103,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of about 16%. As the world’s largest Antarctic krill fishing nation, the Norwegian National Pavilion brought global krill oil raw material and finished product sales leader AkerBioMarine and NYO3, attracting significant attention at the venue.

With its long development history, pure, high-quality raw materials, and advanced concepts and research capabilities, Norway has popularized Antarctic krill oil globally. As Norway’s most representative enterprise in the Antarctic krill oil sector and the world’s number one brand in Antarctic krill oil sales, NYO3 appeared alongside the Norwegian national pavilion, marking its 6th appearance at CIIE.

On the opening day, NYO3 achieved dual recognition, receiving both the ‘Premium Sponsorship’ certificate from Norway and the ‘NHPG Norwegian Health Industry Cluster Member’ certificate from Innovation Norway, representing Norway’s recognition of NYO3 in political and economic trade areas.

Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Marianne Sivertsen Næss attended CIIE in person. Minister Næss who highly values bilateral relations between China and Norway, stated, ‘China is one of our most important trading partners, both in the seafood industry and maritime sector. Stable framework conditions and good bilateral relations are crucial for Norwegian companies in China and those exporting to the Chinese market.

Close and good cooperation with China also helps Norwegian enterprises succeed in green transformation development.’ NYO3’s achievements in the Chinese market have become one of the important forces driving the green transformation of China-Norway economic relations.

Based on patented ECO-Harvesting® Fresh Fishing Technology, FLEXITECH® Fresh Extraction Technology, and raw materials from pure, unpolluted waters, NYO3 krill oil holds the industry’s only dual international authoritative certifications: Golden ORIVO Product Logo Certification and IKOS raw material and product dual certification.

In 2024, it won 9 Monde Selection awards and became the only pure krill oil brand nominated in the Omega-3 category at the NutraIngredient Awards in Chicago. As a representative Norwegian brand, NYO3 also appeared with Innovation Norway at the China International Fair for Trade in Services in September, participated in the China-Norway diplomatic relations commemoration dinner, and was among the first brands to enter the Norwegian national pavilion.

During this year’s CIIE, NYO3 will also hold an anti-aging trend discussion and 2025 anti-aging product line launch event, extending from krill oil to the anti-aging industry. The event will feature the Norwegian Commercial Counselor and the founder of NO-AGE, Norway’s top anti-aging institution, among others, to discuss cutting-edge research and application trends in anti-aging.

Beyond its presence at the Norwegian national pavilion, NYO3 is featured across six pavilions during CIIE, covering the Norwegian nutrition pavilion, Tmall booth, Kuaishou booth, and independent special exhibition positions, spanning from Hall 2 to Hall 8.

Over the past 70 years, China-Norway economic and trade cooperation has yielded fruitful results, with deep collaboration in energy, marine, manufacturing, and other fields. CIIE is not only a platform for openness but also for mutual benefits. The Norwegian brands appearing this time, based on their global vision and solid product strength, have not only achieved remarkable market success but also conveyed concepts of sustainable development and healthy lifestyle attitudes, becoming a microcosm of good relations between China and Norway.

The cooperation model of Chinese and Norwegian enterprises, which jointly develop new products and expand new markets, has already shown results. We look forward to both sides’ enterprises taking CIIE as an opportunity for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, promoting deep cooperation between China and Norway in economic and trade fields, sharing development achievements of the new era, and jointly building a healthy and nutritious future.
